The Dan E. Homeyer Play Therapy Research Grant
Dan E. Homeyer was the unwavering supporter of his wife, Linda E. Homeyer. He was a loving husband and encourager, a playful man of wisdom and laughter. When Linda was writing, seemingly endlessly, on her play therapy dissertation, he went above and beyond to assist her in its completion. He celebrated her passion and dedication to the research process. A psychology professor at Dallas Bible College and later Woodcrest Bible College, Dan valued education, research, and mentoring students. After he died in 2003, Linda established, with Texas APT, a research award in his name to honor this spirit of encouragement and support.
Texas APT will bestow up to two $1,000 research awards annually. Recipients earn the opportunity to present their research at the annual conference and receive a one-day conference honorarium and one-night hotel accommodations. Recipients are encouraged to submit their research for publication in the International Journal for Play Therapy or another relevant peer-reviewed journal. Submission of applications starts in the fall with a deadline of November 30th. Recipients will be announced in early March.
