Kimberly King, PhD., LPC-S, RPT-S™

Hello, I'm Dr. Kimberly King, the 2024-2025 President of the Texas Association for Play Therapy (TxAPT). I am a Clinical Professor at the University of North Texas (UNT) and the Director of the Counseling and Human Development Center, where I have the privilege of training both Masters and Doctoral students in play therapy while overseeing the provision of these essential services through our clinic. Recently, I had the joy of enrolling my own child as a freshman at UNT, a moment that brought my professional and personal worlds together in a meaningful way. As an extrovert, I thrive on working with students and colleagues, and in my free time, I enjoy boxing classes, watching stand-up comedy, and spending quality time with my family. As TxAPT President, I am excited to lead our organization throughout 2024-2025. In this role, I oversee the branch's operations, much like a chief executive officer of a nonprofit organization, ensuring we fulfill our mission and meet the needs of our members. I also have the honor of leading the annual conference during my term, submitting quarterly reports to APT, and attending president meetings.
