This style of music was created by Ñico Lora, a Dominican of Spanish descent, in the 1920s. In the Dominican Republic it was promoted by Rafael Trujillo, the dictator from the 1930 to 1961, and became the country’s national music and dance style, while in the United States it was popularized by Angel Viloria and his band Conjunto Típico Cibaeño.
(5:30-6:30pm)
How often do you engage clients in the healing process through the use of expressive arts? Compare that number to the frequency of engaging in self-care.
Friday night TAPT will hold a special “self-care” event just for you. This is your opportunity to cut-loose and allow your expressive side to come out on the dance floor. By learning the Latin dance of Merengue, you will discover a new way to tap into your authentic self while experiencing self healing for the mind, body and spirit. Experience a renewed sense of wholeness and freedom while increasing energy and self acceptance. Come and join your friends as we explore, express and embrace authentic movements stored deep inside us.
Reception and Auction: (6:30-reception 8:15 pm)
Silent and Live Auctions will take place on Friday evening. During the silent auction Hors’ Dourves and refreshments will be served. You can use this time to network with friends and check out your competition for the great items up for auction. In the past auction items have included a navigation system, leather handbags, hotel and restaurant certificates and even a Kindle. We have heard news that the TAPT Chapters are challenging themselves to make this event the “one to remember."
